Lorenz Walder-Hartmann is a German and European Patent Attorney, author of several publications on patent law, co-author of a textbook on patent law and Master of Laws (LL.M.) with focus on European IP law and the forthcoming Unified Patent Court. At Zimmermann & Partner, Lorenz dedicates most of his time working on international patent litigation cases, in particular in the field of communication and information technology. Lorenz also specializes in other inter partes proceedings (opposition, appeal and nullity proceedings), and develops solutions for complex legal questions arising in such cases.
Lorenz studied physics at the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich, wrote his diploma thesis about path integral methods at the University of Florida, and held a scholarship of the German National Academic Foundation. Lorenz obtained a PhD from the University of Innsbruck for research on quantum information theory, quantum communication and quantum optics, afterwards held a postdoctoral position in Innsbruck, and published a number of scientific articles in internationally renowned journals.
