German and European Patent Attorney Candidate
Dr Marius Wenz holds a doctorate in chemistry and is currently training at our firm to become a German patent attorney and representative before the European Patent Office (European Patent Attorney). At our firm, he deals with all areas of intellectual property law and specialises in the areas of chemistry, physics, pharmacy, medical technology and materials science.
Dr Wenz studied chemistry at Freie Universtiät Berlin. During his studies, he worked as mathematics tutor as well as mentor, and spent a semester studying pharmacy at Universtität Wien.
After completing his studies, Dr Wenz earned his doctorate in theoretical chemistry at Freie Universität Berlin under Prof Dr Bettina Keller. Dr Wenz completed his doctorate within three years and as a participant in the interdisciplinary Research Training Group (RTG) 2473 ‘Bioactive Peptides,’ which was directly funded by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft and of which he was the student representative from 2021 to 2022. In his dissertation, Dr Wenz focused on molecular dynamics simulations and their analysis for proteins and peptides. The main focus was on small peptides, such as alpha-amanitin, and their structure-activity relationship. As part of RTG 2473, Dr Wenz always worked in an interdisciplinary context, gaining in-depth insights particularly into synthesis processes and their optimisation as well as experimental detection methods.
